The Fold have decided (amicably) to call it a day at the end of 2019 with three final shows (see 'tour dates'). The band will then go 'dormant' so will not book further shows. However, they might be tempted out of retirement if the right offer comes in!
The combination of 'been there, done that' and the difficulty with getting all six members in one place at one time has led to the decision.
So how do you sum up 25 years so far in a band? I don’t know an easy answer to that and if you want a full biography, see the biog section. It is a lot to do with music and it is a lot to do with friendship. The band have experienced real highs at gigs, whether playing to 5000 people at a festival or 80 people in a pub; have had amazing times in the studio and laughed themselves senseless along the way.
Like any relationship, there have been tougher moments but the overall recollection is one of an awful lot of fun! There has always been a shared sense of getting it right and nailing a track in rehearsal. Fortunately, that common ground has been there from the start.
